In Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), maintaining the proper balance of nutrients is essential for supporting physiological functions.


Macronutrients—including carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids—act as the primary energy sources and structural components, sustaining metabolism and enabling tissue repair.


-Micronutrients—such as essential vitamins, trace minerals, and electrolytes—play key roles in enzymatic reactions, immune support, and cellular homeostasis.


While macronutrients (macro = large) are required in substantially greater amounts than micronutrients (micro = small), both are vital to maintaining overall health and well-being.
